Greetings to everyone A few weeks ago I purchased a 1992 25' ford f700 (429 eng) . Ran good till I got down the road about 4 to 5 miles then it it started loosing power. Pulled over and eventually it cut off. The truck had been sitting for maybe 6 to 8 months. Previous owner ran it every now
and then and used it for storage. I changed the fuel filter and pulled the tank , replaced the strainer screen. Thought that did it. Not!! It runs fine sitting still. Get out on the road and after about 8 to 10 minutes its dying.... Help a guy out will ya??? Be blessed
does that thing have a carb, or is it injected?
if it has a carb, it probably needs to be cleaned out and rebuilt.
i had a falcon do the same thing. cold it ran fine, 5 miles it would die. let it sit for 2-3 hours, and you could drive another 4-5 miles before it would die again. the carb was full of crap.
