Here's the scoop, I have a 2003 6.0L with 302,000 approx. A few months ago while I was going up hill I noticed the truck really dog out, hit the accelerator the Rpms went up but no increased power/speed. Did this a few times, went to store and back. 20 later I go to leave again and when it fired up it idled up really high, went down the street and it did the same power loss/rpm thing when I hit the pedal....then it chugged a little and completely shut off. So I've basically been throwing parts at this thing hoping to find the problem. No CEL, no codes. I tried replacing the Cam sensor ( I know this isn't usually a problem but a tech friend had suggested), replaced the fuel pump, and ICP sensor. I was getting the P2285 code but later realized it was because I had tried the unplug and crank test on the icp. cleaned the egr. I tested the Ficm its reading 45v key on and 48 while cranking does this for certain mean its working fine? I'm just at a loss. I'm hoping to pick up a scan tool tonight and I'll post what I come up with. Also can anyone tell me what the outputs are I'm looking for? Thanks so much in advance for any advice you can give me.
No smoke cranking means no fuel to the cylinders. The FICM voltage seems backwards to me. If anything it should be less while cranking, and no, just because the voltage tests good doesn't mean it's good. You could also have a loss of high pressure oil.
What are you using to get the codes with??
Nice mileage BTW. Have you had the truck since new?
Wish I could say those were all mine but I bought it in 06 with 100,000 on it. I live in NE ohio and work in Wheeling, WV so I do quite a bit of driving.
I just picked up a $100 actron scanner which I think was a waste of money. But the autoparts store rents a nicer one that I was going to pick up tonight.
