I have a short somewhere in my electrical system. Last night the jumper cables went up in smoke. The fusable link wire from solenoid to alternator is fried. That is an easy fix. Both the Starter and Solenoid are brand new.
The short occurs when the key is in the "ON" position. Just changed the clutch and added an aftermarket shift kit. Did not have the problem before.
Am I missing something here? Are there any wires or wiring harnesses anywhere near the Transmission that I may have jacked up while changing clutch and putting in shift kit?
Thats a good question. I havent been able to locate the neutral safety switch. I have traced the wires from the solenoid to the alternator, solenoid to the ignition switch, looked under the truck around the transmission to make sure that there are no wires smashed or pinched down there. So far nothing. The ground from the battery to the block and block to the cab are solid.
So far, the only bad wire I have found is the fusible link from the solenoid to the alternator.
I'm just completely stumped here, dont even know where to even look now.
