Thank you all very much for the answers. As for what I would like to do with the pickup is a original restoration, this F-1 was bought by my great grandpa new in 49/50 and has never left the family. So anything less than an original restoration just doesn't feel right for one. I'm sure I'll have many more question later like paint colors for all the different part. Once again thank you all very much for the help.
That is WAY too cool that you have your great grandpa's truck. That is priceless and a very rare occurance to have a 1 family truck. Props to you!!! Looking forward to hearing more on your progress as you go.
I think its great that you have so much family history with the truck. I agree, it sounds like a great candidate to keep it as stock as possible. I admire you guys that do the original restorations, its a lot more exacting work than us customizers have to go through.
It really is like having a piece of history! And to think that there is no Previous Owner "Cootie Bobbing" etc.
It would be really nice to be able to go through something that original and just take a couple hundred photos of different components and installations/stock parts - just for the records!
My 50 F1 has the down facing dash switch also. I liked the idea so much I mounted the toggle for my electric fuel pump down facing on the other side of the steering column.
