A gal I know has a 2007 Ford Ranger 4 x 4 and she backed over a big curb into my driveway once and later when she left, the starter seemed completely dead...After checking everything under the hood that we could see and finding nothing wrong, she checked some kind of switch in the glovebox and then it started....Maybe it's some kind of a re-set switch?
No didn't buy it new just bought it a few weeks ago and just found the switch today. It's in the off position. I went out after dinner and turned all the lights off in the garage and truck and flipped it on to see if a light would come on somewhere and nothing. I can't figure out what the hell it is. Just a real small toggle switch. I may call the dealer tomorrow and see if they'll give me the previous owners phone number.
I agree w/ tylus, probably a valet switch, that or the previous owner must have had an after mkt accessory(fog, running, or off-road lights) installed at one time. I'd check to see if and/or where the wiring leads.
Just called the previous owner. The switch is for the DVD player. You can switch the toggle to the on position and tune the radio to 89.1 and listen to the movie over the trucks speakers if the kids don't want to wear the headphones.
Thanks for all the replies. It was driving me nuts.
