Hey guys I just bought an early 88 Bronco with a bad 4wd hub. I bought an NOS set of of ebay to replace both. Is it as simple as removing the wheel and sliding the old one off and sliding the new one on ? Thanks for your help.
You dont need to take the wheel off to repair your hubs... there are 5 or 6 (pends on hubs) bolts allens or phillips drive holding on the cap.... are you replacing the internals? you will need a snap ring tool should have two snap rings one on the shaft and one on the outer of the locker.. than the hub assembly will slide out... when you have it like this you should think about replacing your bearings and spindle lock nuts ( easiest if you have the sockect for them) make sure you pack any part in with grease and its clean.. If you decide to do your lock nuts jack that tire up and remove it so you can check it
These are the flange style hubs. They were only used in 87 and early 88. They are a one piece design that, from what I understand, just slide on and off the axle. My question is,is it that simple?
Warn hubs come with a diagram illustrating an exploded view of all ford style hubs (flange style included) I would google the installation instructions or check warn's website/or summitracing.com to see if the installation guide is included/shown online.
