Front hub Question..

'88 f150 4x4 xlt lariat dana.
Ive been working my way up to this job, I have to get some grease into my front bearings, and I'm a little aprehensive because I've never taken apart 4x4 hubs before, Ive seen a couple of posts out here with pics that have helped out alot,But I yet have to commence on it, Ive got the manual '88 chrome hub covers that slide off with the wheel once removed, not the warn design with the allen screws around the lock switch, -are these any different from one another as far as parts?
also, anything like springs, or shims I should replace once removed because I'm supposed to?

I've got a 87 with the same hubs. They're easy. When the hub comes off your looking at the spindle nut that must be removed to get to your bearings.
Good luck!!!

I have the same hubs on mine. I re-pack my bearings every 30k. You'll need the hub socket for 1/2 ton fords. Simply lay everything out on a board in the order it came off the truck, get a haynes shop manual as well. Thius is the easiest hub assembly on the street.

Is there anything I should keep an I out as far as certain things that wear-out? possible seal replacement?- Ive seen the hub socket at the auto parts store, So I'm definately picking one of those up with the grease.

You should consider changing your wheel bearing seals each time you re-pack or change your bearings. Get a seal puller so you don't scratch any surfaces. Additionally, I take a brass rod and knock the bearing races out of the brakes dics and replace them. You can check them and see if they have any wear marks on them. They're not very expensive, cheap insurance. If your doing a front brake job at the same time, you can replace the brake discs and they come with new bearing races built in.
