After picking my new (2010) F-350 CC 6.4L with camper up from from Salt Lake City, UT and driving it to San Clemente, CA - 842.1 miles / 58.548 gals = 14.38 mpg, computer said an avg of 16.15 but there was a couple hilly sections where the computer said I got way more than reality. Pretty happy so far when I was expecting to only get 13's on the highway. I think I can massage this if I pay attention to speed on the cross country drive.
All the tips on getting better mileage are well known. Easy starts, coast coming up to stops, time lights so you don't come to a complete stop, tire pressure, tire profile, tire size, proper alignment, regular oil and fluid changes, synthetic lubes, remove excess weight, etc. etc. etc.
I've gone as high as just over 20 MPG with my truck, usually get high teens (18-19) with easy highway driving, much lower when plowing snow...
A 2008 F-450 King Ranch, 6.4L diesel with 4.88 gears (yea I know the 33,000lb. ******). It doesn't matter if I'm in town all day, on the road all day or pulling 25K - I get 10 mpg (figured AND on the computer - the same). What could I do to improve gas mileage? Buy two Ram cummins units, caused it would take both of them to pull that weight, but hey I'd get 25 mpg with both of them. Naaah, I'll stick with my PSD.
Update for mpg, 15.4mpg. That is with 10 minute warm ups in the morning, this was all city driving except a 40 mile round trip on the freeway to Johns Island to see the xmas lights. For this tank, I used the last of my motorkote additive and I switched to Rotella 5w-40 synthetic. I am happy with this mileage, especially since there was probably 2 hours of idle time for warm-ups.
06 Lariat Supercrew with 6.0L. No mods. Last freeway trip, got about 24mpg at 75 mph while driving from KC,MO to Dayton, OH, I use motorkote cetate booster, rotella, HT tires, keep it washed. In the city, I get 16-19 pending temperature and how long warm-up takes. Towing a 6500lb trailer, I got 19mpg, mostly 55mph state hwy driving.
I know you said no mods but just to be clear...do you have the stock intake and exhaust still?

ZERO mods in the engine/drivetrain. I do have a few electrical interior mods, such as outlets and CB.
My current tank is with no additives, Dash says 16.4, but I won't know the actual until I fill up. I would guess somewhere in the 14s, but I have done absolutely no freeway time so far. Still letting it idle in the morning if its below 40 degrees.
I am going camping in Feb up in Uwharrie, NC. About 180 mile drive. I will post mileage for those fill ups as well.
Just filled up, no additives this tank, ZERO freeway time, just over 100 minutes of idling for morning warmups-13.6mpg. Dash said 15.8mpg. I wonder if that thing only takes into consideration moving time or something.
Anyway, I added motorkote to this tank, and will continue to keep track of morning warmup time.
06 F350 6.0 and I get about 17-18 around town and about 19 on the highway. That is about a 2 mile boost since I put on the MBRP Turbo back, which really livened up the 6.0. I too run the cetanc booster and try to keep my foot out of it.
I have a 2001 f-350 7.3 not a Dooley. (crew cab 6ft bed) lariat, 190,000 miles
completely stock I am only getting 220 mile per a tank which comes out to 9 mpg.
this can not be normal, what is the first thing I should do ?

PLEASEEEEEE HEELLPPP !!!!!!!
Sounds like you need new injectors!! I know you don't have the variable vane turbo, but perhaps the bypass for the turbo is stuck. At what RPMs do you start getting boost? WHen I first got my 06, I was getting 5-10lbs of boost at less than 1500 RPMs. My turbo vanes were stuck. Cleared em all out using throttle and chemicals Now I get great mileage!! Maybe someone with a 7.3 can help.
