Anybody have any data on a 2010 6.4L? I am picking one up in a couple weeks (crew cab, short bed, FX4, 3.73 diff) had hoped to get an idea of fuel consumption to budget for cross country drive in January (CA to VA).
In the Marine Corps and have orders to Quantico, VA. Need to make sure I budget smartly.
Thanks
That's the least important reason to stay away from Obamanations home town. Crime and gun control are my top picks.
Looking forward to getting out of CA diesel here is 3.65, and that's the on base price - even worse out in town.
well, i have the close cousin of the super duty...
2002,excursion 4x4,V10,auto,3:73s, SCT3 tuner
currently getting 7-8mpg but thats on winter gas, in 4x4 all city with extended idle time. i normaly see 10ish in town and 12-14 highway in the
summer.
That sucks didnt know gas had a winter blend.

Not sure about up in Quantico but here Cherry Point I filled up at 3.17 no diesel on Cherry Point so there is no so called Marine Corps Crime Syndicate Price. It might be even cheaper in VA, North Carolina has one of the higher state taxes on fuel on the east coast.

Sorry for giving you the heads up. With tude like that I hope every stop on your cross country adventure brings you $4/gal diesel and a good bout of motion sickness. btw, our violent crime rate has been dropping substantially each of the last 5 years and our handgun ban was ruled unconstitutional about a year ago. As for Obama, that statement is akin to assuming everyone from CA has the intellect of the terminator.
everyone from CA has the intellect of the terminator.
Californians have intellect....huh, never would have guessed
As for diesel cost, glad I live in SC, usually 2.79-3.00. I think its right at 3.00 right now. We don't have diesel on base here at the Charleston Naval Weapons Station
Wow I thought my milage was a little low. However, after seeing everyone elses mine doesn't look too bad. I get around 11 in the city and 13-14 on the highway with a lift and 37" tires.
yes they run "oxygenated" gas in winter months which kills MPG. along with the 4x4 100% of the time and warmup time, and idle time when i run in a store..ect i hate getting in a cold truck.
So called Winter Gas runs a blend of Ethanol which is Alcohol which means it burns it at a faster rate which means worse gas milage. I can burn a full tank of E85 in my car that doesn't take E85 in one day because its all alcohol. If it would only smell like popcorn coming out
Now my 01' E350 SD Cube Van with the 7.3 PSD gets just under 10mph. But its not actual. You can't go Idling your diesel for 3 hours a day and wonder why you went from 300 miles per tank to 200 miles per tank and claim crappy milage and what the hell is going on. Contrary to belief, diesels do burn up alot of fuel Idling. The old myth about diesels don't burn fuel idling is retardalated. Semi's Idle all night because they have Huge tanks.
The other problem with lower mpg in a turbo diesel is the turbo. How can you be expected to NOT press into the pedal and feel/hear that dam turbo kicking in and whining and spooling up and down. Its like a toy you never get tired of. Plus, while your Turboing, that little innocent spinning device is Gobbling up the fuel like a fat chick at the buffet.
Well, I am glad I am running the 2011. I have been upset at seeing 15.5 - 16.3 (with a very concious effort to stay above 16.0 every time i drive). I found that to be upsetting to me after getting 19 mpg highway for the first 500 miles (the drive home from the dealership). I have seen one or two tanks of high 16's, but not a common thing.

btw, welcome to FTE.
Crime has NOT dropped. Just reported crime has. Ask afew chicago police officers see what they tell you.
Here's one. In the interest of not hijacking the thread, there's more. Take note that I posted "violent" crime. The opinions of my many police officer neighbors do not support your opinion that crimes are not being reported.
LMS - I did not intend that to be a personal shot. I just have no intention of going to IL much less Chi town. Chicago is not the only anti 2nd Amendmanet city in that state, but the Daly regime has held your city in an iron fist for too long, and Rahm Emmanuel won't be a change for the better. As far as the city gun ban, the Supreme Court decision didn't keep Daly from instituting a Draconian registration/limitation scheme. The best thing about Illinois is their monster white tail bucks on the west side, good luck affording a non-resident tag though.
I don't think the occasional discussion of American freedoms are a big high jack on a Forum dedicated to an American freedom - driving big trucks! Didn't see many Super Duty's in my travels of Europe, Africa or Asia for Uncle Sam's gun club - didn't see many privately owned firearms either - except for all those AK-47s in Somalia and Albania.

Well said...biggest truck I saw in Germany was a Nissan frontier, and notta in Japan/HK/Korea/Singapore/Malaysia. A few landcruisers, but no pickups.
Cool bud, I just seem to have to defend a lot of misconceptions about this cesspool. If you note my location(s), I spend the majority of my time way out in the country. And thank you for your service.
