I have had an interesting DEF issue. I got a message saying only 800 miles when I only had 1700 miles on my truck. I had to hit OK a few times to ack it. Now, it is saying 1271 miles to DEF empty, and I have put 800 miles on it since, and the message has not changed, still says 1271 miles to E. It also shows up as a message in the system check.
Tank is larger then 5 gal. I got the 800 miles to empty message and bought 2 - 2.5 gal boxes from WalMart of BlueDEF...... $12 per box and the tank took all 5 gallons. I would have thought that there was at least 1 gal left in the tank.
TRuck just hit 2100 miles..says to add def. How much do i put in? Autozone sold me a quart.
Your truck must not have been filled from the factory or by the dealer. I am finding that my truck uses about 2 1/2 gallons in 3,000 miles and that is with some towing. The amount you use ifs effected by your driving style and how much you tow. I buy 2 1/2 gallon jugs from walmart for around $12.00 and when my information center says less than 1/2 full I pour in the 2 1/2 gallo0ns. This method works for me .
Does anyone know if you can refill the Ford 2.5 gallon Jug. I know it has that special spout.
The Ford spout fits the DEF 2.5 gallon jugs I bought at O'Reilly's Auto Parts. I'm sure you could refill the Ford jug, but don't spill DEF on anything!

Does the Ford spout fit better than the BlueDEF spouts?
The first few 2.5 gal BlueDEF jug spouts were great.
The last several jugs I can't get them to tighten down without the threads giving out and it leaks.
At least the last four I used had this issue.
I over filled mine once.
You would have though my truck was on fire if you saw me running to my garage for several rags.
I was 3/4 the way throught the 2.5 gal jug after the computer said "less than half" which has always taken a 2.5 gal prior and since.
IDK what the computer was thinking.
I only fill in a quiet place now so I can listen.
