I don't know, everything I've read says 5:

I was just going to post on this but I guess i got my answer. i am gonna go to the two local truck stops within 25 miles of my house tomorrow to see if I can get it any cheaper. i paid $13 for 2.5 gal, and got 800 miles to empty. It scared me.

Also, I changed oil today at just a few miles under 5000 miles. The 6.7 insert to the owners manual says do not change oil until the H.U.D. tells you to. I would assume it is 5k miles, but does anyone know the answer to that? I reset the oil life meter, and filter, and I reset the antifreeze meter also.....

NOTE: Do not reset the Anti freeze meter at oil change, even if you check it. Aparently at a specific milage (30k i think it said) the truck will tell you to change and check your mixture to ensure it is at 50%. If you reset it at every oil change, it sounds like to me, you will not get this notification when you are supposed to do this service. (From my understanding of the insert)

THanks for this good information my 6.7 friends.

Al

There are a LOT of things that are monitored for the computer to determine when the oil needs to be changed. Most owners have seen between 6-9,000 miles before the truck wants it's oil changed.

Just updated the TECH FOLDER with more info on this.

Well I have clicked on the link about 85 times, but the sight can not generate this page. I get this error about 8 out of 10 times when trying to open a post on this web page. I have NEVER been able to open attachments "pdf" "jpg" or others. Is this a known issue with this sight? I am using MS IE the latest update with Win 7 Pro. Any help is appreciated. The info here is very helpful, but very annoying to try to access.

Thanks for the help.

alstang1 - something is wrong with your computer, not this site. Please stop posting your computer specs on multiple threads. Take your computer to a technician.

I understand and respect your comment, but it does not answer my questions. Some sites require a certain port to be open to work. Other sights require firefox to work. I am just trying to narrow down the issue, because I do not feel a tech could narrow down the issue any better than I could, without having answers to the above asked questions. That being said, and trying to stay polite, I would still like to try and find some answers to those questions.

I am sorry for Hijacking this thread tho, I will not post any more on this subject here.

Just called the Loves and TA close to my house in El Campo. Both of them sell it only by 2.5 gallon for 12.99. You lucky soul.

I have been buying the Blue DEF from O'Reilly's as well. I did use a DEF station at a Love's once and it worked great, cheap, too. I have found that when I see the 1/2 full message, I need to wait for one more regen to take place before refilling otherwise the tank won't quite take the whole 2 1/2 gallons.

The regen message has nothing to do with DEF levels. It is the extra miles that make some room for you.

Regards

TSB 10-23-9 (partial listing below) addresses the DEF reset issue.

This article supersedes TSB10-18-2 to add additional vehicle lines and additional calibration content. ISSUE:

Some 2011 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and built on or before 11/5/2010 may exhibit delayed manual upshifts from 1st to 2nd gear when in Select Shift mode while going down a grade, harsh/delayed 1-2 or 2-1 shifts, a harsh 2-3 upshift on the first drive away of the day after an extended vehicle soak. The diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) warning messages won't reset after refilling DEF tank with key on engine running (KOER), malfunction indicator light (MIL) on with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2459, P2463 and/or P246C for diesel particulate filter (DPF) restrictions, vehicles modified for rail applications that will not re-engage power take-off (PTO) operation or speedometer inoperative after riding on the tracks with the front wheels off the ground and customer access circuits for vehicle speed output (VSOUT) signal that are inoperable. Refer to the Calibration Content for additional details.

Yes is does address a DEF reset issue, but this particular change only applies to reset issues caused by refilling with the key on and engine running...

I just reached 345 miles to E on DEF and put 2 1/2 gals in and it said that I had 800 miles let to go. Then after I restarted it went to under half DEF left. I went to 6300 miles before I added any.

Ive been using 1 gallon every 1,000 miles. I've pulled my trailer over 10,000 miles and have just over 14,000 on the truck. I always keep a jug in the toolbox just in case i cant find any DEF. So far the trucks been a blast!
