Kind of a pain, yesterday the wipers came on by themselves and will not shut off unless I pull the fuse. Is there a relay that could be at fault or is the only suspect the multifunction switch?
Far as I know it would be the switch. They are not that bad to change and don't cost to much. But to be sure you should post the year etc. of your truck.
It's a '93 f350, 5 speed. Sorry, I keep forgetting since I usually keep that stuff in a signature, which this site doesnt allow right away to new users.
i have a similar problem except they dont turn on by there selves when i cut them on they do whatever they want to after a while they stop, and i have the same year model truck as vervepipes, ive also had headlight wiring issues but fixed that and my signals wont work, its not the relay ive put 3 in unless everyone of those was bad.
I have turn signal and high beam issues as well, but as long as I have the steering column up all the way to relieve pressure on the wiring harness it works fine. Havent had wiper issues before though.

Hearing that makes me think you have something chafing in the wiring harness. I'd start by opening up the column and check to see if any of the wires are shorting out or something else is wrong in there.
I have a similar problem. I've got a '93 F250 and the wipers will only go at one speed, and they won't shut off until I kill the ignition when I use the washer.
The new switch came in this morning and that was the problem. Four phillips #2 screws for the shroud, had the screw off the column tilting lever to remove the bottom shroud half, the top half didn't need to come off, I just manipulated it's position with the hazard light swiitch pushed in to access the two torx screws that hold the switch in place. The assembly could be pulled out a bit to access the plugs and installation was just the reverse. All together a 5 minute job.
I tried the switch cleaning method I have found here: Ford F150 Wiper Fix Procedures
but I lost the spring and a contact in the fresh snow and at -30 I wasnt about to go digging for it. The new assembly was 101$ taxes included ("Standard" brand)and arrived at my auto part store the next morning.
I now have something I can use again while my POS 2008 Chev minivan get's it's second front main crankshaft seal replaced within 6 months.
I have a 2009 F350 and the wipers also just turned on by themselves when I was cleaning the back seat and now they will not turn off. Does anyone know if the 350 is the same as the above problems
