Been lurking for a while and finally joined a few days ago. Just got a 1978 F150 Supercab swb 4x4 with a 351m and C6. I'd been looking for a while for that combo and finally found one. It's got a little lift and 35" BFG AT's.
She has a little rust but in pretty good shape considering. Drove it 500 miles home and it never missed a beat!! Looking forward to reading and learning from all the info on here and helping out as well.
Nice find.......................my wife wants one of those...............she likes my 78 reg cab shortbed but would like some room for groceries.......LOL
It needs some body work and a little rust work around window rubbers inside and outside the cab. Then after I get that done I'm thinking about either a flat tan with black trim/wheels/bumpers or a OD green with the black. I want a utility look more than a restored/show look.
I was thinking about having it Line x'd on the outside but that was gonna be around $3k so I changed my mind since thats almost as much as I paid for the whole truck.
There is lots of stuff to be done and its harder to know where to start!!
Thanks for all the compliments. It gets lots of looks everywhere I've taken it and I got 3 offers to buy it driving it from TX back to AR the day I got it. I had a 73 F100 swb 2x4 that my dad and I re did and went with a more street rod direction. It got totaled and the other guy that pulled out in front of my didnt have insurance so I pretty much took a loss on it.
Always missed that old truck and have been watching CL and other sale sites for an old stump jumper. Found this one and was lucky enough to drive it away. I'm sure I'll be asking lots of new guy questions but I'm no stranger to the search button!!!
