So for a little while now my truck has had a shimmy that I just couldn't figure out. Yesterday on the way to work I found out exactly what it was....My drive shaft is now in 3 pieces.
Luckily the only piece hurt was the small slip yolk knuckle or whatever it's called. The end with the seal that slides...the smaller end part has some scarring on the inside of the journal. Does anybody know where I can buy just this joint? The junkyards around here are terrible.
Neapco and Spicer are two aftermarket driveline companies that might make what you are looking for. It might be easiest to find a local driveshaft shop and just have them make you a whole new driveshaft.
Did you try Van Demark in Amelia, Oh 513-797-7278?
They might be able to get one from another junk yard if they
do not have it. I got a rear end from them back in March when I
blow the one up in my truck from too many wheel hops.
I think that piece is just called a "slip yoke." Here is a link to Spicer's catalog for slip yokes: http://www2.dana.com/pdf/J300-P3.pdf . Maybe you can find what you need.
You need the one that goes into either the transfer case or the tranny if 2wd. Its called a slip yoke and they are pretty hard to find. Id suggest goin to the junk yard and lookin at the fords that have 4wd. I found the whole shaft off a yard for 20 bux.
