Amp Install
Question:
How do I wire a mono channel amp to my HU that only has 4 channel pre-outs and no sub out?
Thanks
I am going to assume that you are not currently using your preouts on your deck. If you are, let me know.
The "easiest" thing to do, is to get a stereo to monorual adapter from Radio shack. You would connect this to the left and right REAR outputs of your head unit. Thisadapter will turn this stereo RCA pair into a single mono RCA which you can then run to your amps input.
One problem with this is, the only way to adjust the output on the MONO amplifier from your seat, is to use the FADE control on your head unit. This also obviously adjusts the balance of output between your front and rear speakers. In addition, adjusting the bass settings for your speakers will also adjust the input for your sub amp. You can use gain settings on your amp to get the sound as close as you would like it, but you wont be able to adjust the sub level independently from the other speakers. If this is not a problem, then you are all set. Just one of the pains of not having a seperate Sub preout. =\
Hope i havent confused you. =P
