got in my 93 idi truck yesterday, started it up, and my odometer toggled between correct mileage and "error 3". speedometer buried itself to 80mph whenever moving but went to 0 if stopped. odometer advanced normally (when not displaying error 3).
after driving normally for a bit, od light started flashing, odometer went to just "error" and e4od went into limp mode and started shifting badly.
my searching of this forum says error 3 means psom wants to be recalibrated. but why? is it fried?
today i put the instrument cluster from my 97 psd in. all is good (except tach is out of calibration. the psd must have a lot more flywheel teeth or something.
so i'm 99% sure my psom is out of whack. i know where its supposed to be but havent found the recalibration wire. will look again tomorrow when its light out.
my question: should i bother trying to recalibrate the old psom or should i just get another psom and forget it? all things being equal i kinda like the old odometer reading of 323k miles!
lose my speedo and truck barely runs. am remembering why i prefer manual transmissions!
