ya, again.... better to have a gear place do it. its not worth the risk of having the gears wear pattern be wrong and prematurely wearing the gears out.
you can get the carrier out with 2 small prybars, and can put it back in with a soft faced dead blow. but you can forget about shimming it.
What about for replacing the seals? Granted the best would be to take it in somewhere, but my front seals are leaking, and at some point I need to replace them, but I think the gears are fine. Can you fit the carrier back in with the existing shims and some brute force, or do you need to stretch the housing then too?

These Dana axles don't have traditional side bearing adjusting nuts. You have to use a case spreader to put the carriers in right as far as shimming goes. Not hard to do at all but just goofy...Not a fancy tool either. Mine is home made.
its really not hard to do. you just need to take your time and keep messin with it untill you get it just right. the seals install thru the inside of the axle tube, and they are a royal PITA to install, but it can be done
