Wheel Stuck On drum
Thanks everyone for replying.
Look, I am not a know-it-all, but found some of the suggestions somewhat impracticle , not good for the rims, and potentially unsafe .
Coincidently had this problem and was searching google for answers . I stumbled upon a practicle solution myself that is easy, not harmful to your rims, and doesn't require expensive torchs or driving around with the lugs loosened.
Take a 2x3 and cut it to the outside width of your rim. Get a 2lb hammer.
Lay the measured 2x3 across the rim so each end covers outside of rim.
Now simply hammer the 2x3 on each end. A few hits on each end should suffice.
Rotate the 2x3 around the rim and bang the ends as you go around the rim like the hands on a cl8ck.
My tire was really siezed bad onto the hub . When I finally thought of this trick, the tire broke
free really without much hammering on the 2x3.
Hope this helps someone in the future.
Don't bang on your rims without using a wood block for gosh sake ! I know when problems arise we just want a solution and want it now. I am as guilty as anyone for resorting to the good old hammer when all else fails. But if you have nice rims, you don't want to damage them by beating directly on them with a hand sledge.
