Sorry for yet another tire recommendation thread. I tried to look through the search results but was making my head hurt....here are my criteria:
1) Size is 275X65R18. It is a Ford F150 FX4.
2) 4 Ply or 6 Ply (if any exist). Do not want to deal with 10 ply.
3) White lettering is very preferrable.
4) Nice looking thread pattern (agressive looking).
Any suggestions are welcome even if they do not fall into the above criteria.
Well, looks like from the recommendations above, good year silent armor or Cooper STT comes in OWL and less than 10 ply. How is the performance of Cooper STT if I have sipes cut on them?
I believe that if you cut sipes yourself, that they will no longer be DOT approved.
Do you really need the aggresiveness of the STT? The ATR is a great all terrain with a 50k mile warranty
No, I was not gonna cut the sipes myself - never thought of that. lol.
Discount tire co here cut sipes for $12 I believe.
And no, I do not need the agressiveness of the STT, they just look good.
I do not know how I missed the ATR - I think I only saw 10 ply in there but they have a 'C' load tire as well when I looked the second time. They are worth considering I suppose.
I know how...Cooper's site is not user friendly. That drop down makes me mad.
I would do the ATR on my truck if they had it in a 20", because of this I think I am going to go with the Zeon LTZ in the Spring.
The Wrangler SilentArmor's have a great reputation both on FTE and in the Tirerack surveys. I owned a pair on my Expedition, and I was very impressed. Next set of tires i buy will be those again.
It sucks that all good looking tires come in 10 ply for rim size 18.....
Wrangler duratrac was one I liked and same deal.
I guess Wrangler silentarmor is still the winner.
I am a firm beleiver in the Good Year Wrangler Silent Armours. I currently have a set on my 02 Excursion that have about 71000 miles on 'em and they are by far the best winter tire I have ever had. I'm not sure what kind of winters you have, but here in Minnesota (a fresh 8" last night) tires can really make a difference. Just my opinion.
Good luck finding the Silent Armors right now. That was my first choice too. Heres the thing with the FX4. If you have the LT tire option in that size (which im assuming you do) the only LT Silent Armor is the E rated 10 ply (about $100 mor per tire). The C rated tire is P-Metric and it is "suggested" not to replace one with the other.
Now of course WE all know that putting a C rated tire on a 1/2 ton truck is fine, but the bigwigs that control the warranties will not honor a warranty request if you mount a P-Metric when the door sticker requires a LT.
I looked everywhere. Online, local shops, and direct Goodyear suppliers and they all said finding that Silent Armor is scarce right now. Indefinaltely backordered. Almost like they are not making them right now. The E rated is a little more available.
Long story short, I ended going back to the stock Wrangler AT/S when replacing. I never had a problem with the originals so I avoided the hassle and they are readily available.

Now that is dandy....well guess my hunt continues. I got till next month anyways.
I was actually working (HVAC) at a Goodyear center today and the manager said the same thing. Nice tire but good luck. He had some smaller E rated in stock, and they are nice. They also sell the BFG's and he liked the silent armors better.
Like I said before, I never had a problem with my original Wrangler AT/S so I just went with those again. LT tire with a C load rating.
