Went to the junkyard today...yea, I know, I should be on a first name basis with those guys. Looking around and I found a 74-76 F250 with a 4-barrel manifold in it. No carb just the manifold. I went ahead and pulled it and I am curious if these stock manifolds are any good or not. Darn things do weigh a ton though! So, should I use it or did I just waste $15?? I was thinking of putting it on the stock 390 that is in the truck now. Gotta get a carb first though. They had a deal on carbs today too. $10..any carb. I didn't pick one up though, as I kinda think a carb is something I want to buy new. Anyway, thanks for your replies guys. BTW, met a guy there that says he owns a mint '68 that he recently bought for $1200!!! Says it literally had been in a garage for 25 years.

Chad, it's a 4V and that's about it. $15 is a good price, I'd throw it on and prove to everybody that it does make an improvement. Does it have the EGR hole in it?
I'd also pick up a used Autolite 4100 4V for it and rebuild it, they're real easy and an excellent carb. You want the one that says 1.12 on it, flows around 590 cfm. The 1.08 flows around 480 cfm. Make sure it has the transmission kickdown lever.
Thanks guys. I just might have to go back to the yard and look for one of those carbs. And Spudco, I'm not ignoring your offer, I just keep forgetting to bring your number into work so I can call you during the work-day. I do have a friend that should be able to help with the block. He just had some surgery done, so I was a little hesitant to ask him, but he says he should be able to help load it any time. Now all I have to do is wait for that darn income tax check! Thanks a lot for the offer Spud! We'll still have to get together some time, though. Oh hey wait, it just occurred to me, you're just looking for an excuse to go back to Blue Oval and drool over his shop, huh?!?!
If your friend can't help you with the block, let me know.
I'm eager to see Rob help someone else's project along, 'cause my project is dead in the water 'til I can build up the "big block" penny jar. Our tax refund is earmarked for improvements around the house. My wife doesn't see any sense is spending money on an engine buildup when I don't have the truck yet!! No matter how I explain it, she can't see the logic.
