I have a 2002 F250 with (i think) a 6 inch lift. the is a hollow "clunking" sound coming from the front end and i can feel it under my feet whenever i hit bumps.... I looked, and it looks as though most, if not all of my bushings on the rod ends are shot. is this something that i can buy from Ford or will i have to go to a lift specific shop.
ALSO, the truck is all over the road. it feels like it wants to pull to the slant in the road (right or left depending in what lane im in) and the steering is VERY loose.
Any information on either problem is much appreciated..
If you are asking the question regarding rod end bushings (tie-rods/swaybar end link's etc) and don't know if their part of the lift or not and where to get them i will assume your not familiar with the truck or experienced in replacing them.
If your not mechanically inclined then take your truck to a proffesional alignment shop.
When i say proffesional i mean someone that knows lifted trucks. They will diagnose your truck and let you know what it needs.
You could need ball joints, tie-rods, swaybar bushings/links, track bar bushings, alignment tires/properly inflated or worn, wheel bearings, shocks, stabilizer, etc.. or any combination of the above.
mine was making the same knocking noise under my feet and I found the sway bar rods(cant call the name of them at the moment) was shot. I replaced them and noise was gone. On your steering, it could be you steering box. My steering was sloppy and gradually got worse. It finally got to where it would try to lock up. Replaced it and the truck drove like new. You may have a different prob but there are a couple of things to look at. Good luck.
