Oil Filter Adapter Gasket
New to the forums, but looked around and while some threads seem similar I'm not exactly sure if they match my problem. Could be a lack of correct terminology on my part.
Recently took my Girlfriends 2000 F250 6.8L 4WD EFI to the dealership to see if they could find what was leaking oil. 3 days later they called us and said it was the oil filter adapter gasket. We were informed it would cost $600 to fix it. Considering what time of the year it is and how much that cost seems to be inflated due to it being a dealership I wanted to ask here if anyone had an idea of where I could locate the exact name of this part and where I might find some materials in guiding me along replacing this specific item.
Once again it sounds similar to this post: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...er-leak-2.html as well as this thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...k-finally.html , but I wasn't completely sure if they were the same issues.
Could it be the O ring referenced here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...ml#post6556629 that sits between the cooler and the block?
Thanks!

Are they talking mambo-jumbo?
The linked thread says about oil cooler leaks. I am having the same issue on my 7.3 what seems to show on cold days. I already bough the orings and gaskets for $60 and am trying to find couple of hours to get on them. Check your engine section for more precise advice?
I would suggest that you rebuild the entire oil cooler rather than try to replace just the one gasket because you will probably have the cooler begin to leak if you attempt to reuse the old o-rings on the tube.
