2003 4.0 timing
Tried looking up any and all route as to get around it with my AllData, but there's only one way I'm finding.
There are no timing marks on the cam pulley or cam, you need the special service tools from a ford dealership. One is a camshaft aligner, one is a pulley aligner, and one is a pulley bolt wrench that reaches through the holder. Also, be sure to time both camshafts if one has been disturbed, or you'll have a lack of power at high rpm and a ticking sound at all speeds due to uneven cam timing. trust me on this one, the extra work the first time is worth not having to do it again. You will need check the cams if your tensioner and guides are broken, and you may or may not have to retime them, but even being slightly out of time can cause serious drivability problems.
The job would be 100X easier if it weren't the sohc model.

Where do you go to buy the cam alignment tools?
I have a V6 4.0L SOHC engine in need of cam timing. I understand that we need to acquire a set of the special tools required to accomplish the cam timing setup.
Where do I go to buy or rent these cam alignment tools?
Does someone on this forum have a set they'd like to sell, rent or loan?
We are ready to go, but can't be sure the timing is right as things moved around a bit during disassembly.
The engine has been torn down, the old cassette and tensioner on the left side (driver's side) was the culprit and have been removed. The new cassette, gears, chain, etc. have been installed, but not torqued down.
Please get back to me.
Thanks for your help!

Also...if you replace one chain, you are better off doing all 3 (4 if you have 4wd). There is a known defect in the cassettes. While you are there kind of thing. Its like you wouldn't ever just replace one ball joint, you'd do the opposite one too.
