4x4 High works but no low. I have e code p1876 and p1832. Test says to check the ESOF solenoid for 12 volts to center pin which I have. Then says to check for resistance of the solenoid. from the center pin to both outside pins and it should be 45-55 ohms. Both of mine are open. I installed manual hubs on it last year due to both being bad. Is this solenoid for low range?
The ESOF solenoid is no longer relevant. It is only responsible for locking the hubs.
The same mechanism (shift motor, relays, etc) that shift into and out of 4x4 are also responsible for shifting into 4low. So if 4x4 is working, 4low should also be.
Now, many people forget that you have to have the truck in Neutral and your foot on the brake before the 4WD control module will attempt to shift into Low. If you are already doing this, then you may have a problem with the Brake Pedal Position switch.
BOO shows that it is working on scanner. Wont come out of park with out hitting pedal. Switch shows working on scanner but does not shift to low or even. MLPL shows all gears when shifting. Replaced the motor on the transfer case and the GEM module. Nothing changed. Is this GEM plug in play or does it have to be programmed?
The GEM has to be programmed. At least I think it does. It does so many different things and is the same GEM regardless of the truck (2 doors, 4 doors, automatic, manual, etc, etc, etc.)
I'm not familiar enough with a 2002. I know at some point they replaced the GEM with various modules that did what it did. The VSM for Vehicle Security, the 4WD control module for 4x4, etc. I know it happened in the early 2000 time frame.
If you really have a GEM, then it is responsible for door locks, keyless entry, 4WD and some other things I don't recall. So I would assume it would have to be programmed with the options for all of those different combination's.
But then, like I said, I'm not familiar enough with a 2002.
Went into the GEM module again with scanner and found PID that indicates neutral. it says "notNtTRL all the time? I plugged a MLPL off another car on it and it doesnt change. I applied ground to the circuit and still no change. I guess I need to check the wiring from the MLPL to the GEM.
Help. If I ground the red and white wire coming between MLPL and the 4wd module it works fine but will shift to low at any time. What am I missing? I have continuity between MLPL and transfercase motor. I also have continuity between 4x4 module and MLPL. MLPL is new and good.
