Help Removing Passenger Side Air Vent

Hey guy I am trying to get the Passenger Side Air Vent out of my truck one of the guys on here is needing it an I can't get it out. I got 4 screws out an that all I see heard there are 6 screws but I don't see all of them. The only way I can figure to get it out is maybe take the whole dash out. Anybody ever had this problem with there's?

I don't want to be responsible for misleading you, but I just pulled mine all apart last weekend to replace the heater core and clean the vents all out. On my '79, the whole assembly came out in one piece. There are a couple of nuts that are under the hood on the firewall that have to be removed. Mine also does not have A/C. I got mine out with the dash in, it was a pain but I did it.

On mine there were several screws that holds the door on there (I guess 6 or 7 sounds about right) Have you taken the glove box out? Not the dash, just the cardboard glove box itself. I don't think I could get to all of mine until I took that out.

I have not taken the glovebox out yet. I did not think I would have to to get the fresh air vent out.

I think unless you had a stub screw driver and went by feel you will have to take the glove box out. Those top screws are hidden behind the glove box and hard to get to.

It takes a 3/8-inch box wrench. Six screws from what I recall. Feel along the mounting flange to locate them. The two on the forward side take some finagling to remove. After removal, I epoxied a piece of plexiglass to create a dam along the bottom of the opening cuz water was coming in from the cowl drain. Though sloped, the angle wasn't enough to keep water out until that piece was added.

If its just the a/c vent in the dash , there are 2 per side plastic tabs that have to be pushed in and then the plastic vent slides forward outta the dash. Taking out the cubby hole liner and plastic duct that runs from middle vents to the pass. vent makes it easier ....
Ignore if this isnt what you asking about ....

Take the glove box out, if you don't you stand a good chance of stripping the screw heads. I memory serves me correctly there are 5 or 6 screws.

I took the glove box out an still no luck. I just said screw it an will just work on swapping the whole dash out for the factory A/C dash I have sitting. I was needing the vent out cause someone on here was needing it but I can't get it out I tried everything. After that just start working on the 80 Chevy Camaro I have sitting its a lot less headache working on it than trying to figure out how to get this air vent out & how to remove the dash.

Did you ever get that last nut out? This was the step that took me the longest...trying to figure out how to get to that last nut that's located about two-o'clock.

Finally figured out that I had to press the fresh air rubber boot a couple inches to the right toward the fender area and squeeze my hand/wrist/arm in in the limited space. Hurt a bit but it gave me the access and angle to get it loosened.

It did help to have the glove box out just to see the nut from the top side. Can't get it easily from there, though.
