Could it have something to do with the security system?

If its coming from the Tranny I would have to say Im with Epic on this one....anticipation of startup and maybe the solenoids are doing a cycle to get prepared..kinda a warmup procedure....I'm not by my truck but I would say if this is a startup anticipation...it would most likely do it on remote startup as well.

To be clear, this is pure speculation on my part. It would be great to have an engineering confirmation of this idea.

We all could meet at Epic's house and take apart his transmission to find out for sure

Oh come on! Someone needs to do the ear-to-the-pan thing and back me up on this one.

I did...I think I even posted a picture of the pan on your other topic.
That is where it is coming from.

It also makes the noise by itself one or two more times if you wait around long enough. Such as when I was installing my mud flaps, it would make the noise randomly as I was sitting on the ground.

It makes the same noise after you shut the door, sometimes it does it after the lights go out and sometimes before. I just did it twice and the first time after I shut the door the same sound was made after 12 seconds (before the lights went out). I went back out and did it again and it happened with 1 second of when the lights went out.

Most times I hear it the second time when the lights go out.

OK, it appears as if I've started a major discussion here. Now we really need to find out what this is. I thought I was the only person who it was driving nuts. Sounds now like its all of us.

Thanks, now I remember. You were the one who got me under the truck to confirm. It would be nice to understand what it is.

I have a feeling this issue will never have a resolution. It is heading in the same direction as whether UFOs really exist. I can almost see the similarity in these questions: "Are UFOs real?", "Is there really sounds coming out of Epic's tranny". When I get my truck in a couple of weeks, it will be the first thing I do. Okay, second thing. Driving it for 100 miles will be the first

Wouldn't it be cool to use plasma instead of good ole ULSD to clean the DPF? Wait until I figure out how to accomplish that via electrostatic injection for additional helicity. Once we resolve the tilting turbation within the required confinement area, it should be piece of cake.

That will be a cool sound coming from under the truck.
