I am looking to buy a lift kit for my 99 F250 PSD 4X4. My question is what is the difference between a 4" or a 6" lift besides the cost and the height? Will i have to extend any break lines or drive shafts for the 6"? Which brand kit is the best quality?
Joey was your a 6 in the front 4 in the rear to keep it level? I am looking at one for my dually that is set up like that. Who did you get your kit from?
6" front and rear..springs all the way around.no added blocksin the rear....BDS came from Spicers in Rock Springs Ga ... I love the ride and they have a lifetime guaranty no matter what happins
Im thinking about getting a 4inch lift, Ive looked at about every brand possible and read about them all over the forums. The best lift and smoothest riding one seems to be an Icon lift, they use Deaver springs which everyone says is the best. It just kills me that I would have to spend 1200 bucks to get one...

Where did you find an Icon 4" lift including springs for $1,200? That's closer to the price Icon gets for a 3" hanger lift.
I'm in the market for a 4" lift too. I've heard a couple of less than stellar reviews on the Icon lift which really surprised me. I've also heard many recommendations for Superlift, which as an off the shelf type set up, surprises me even more.
I had a 4'' superlift before, and hated how rough it rode. I now have a 8'' all spring skyjacker softride susp, and it rides so much better than the superlift did. It really got put through its paces this last week on a hunting trip, super rough roads at 30-40mph and it did pretty dang good, and held up just fine, maybe not quite as soft as stock, but with that much arch in the springs you wont get a whole lot closer imo.

I'm pretty sure that if you have a two piece driveshaft, a drop bracket may be needed. I'm curious what the cut off points are for driveshaft mods. That would certainly influence my lift kit decisions.
You shouldn't have to lengthen any drive shafts unless you get to around 10'', and even then you can get 1'' spacers that bolt to the tranfer case that can take care of that, Unless you have a 2 piece shaft which it will have to be shimmed, which is no biggie either.

Just make sure you chock the wheels front and rear BEFORE you disconnect the drive shaft.

Possibly, but we're just talking about adding a shim at the carrier bearing mount for your 4" lift. Inexpensive to add and easier to do than changing shocks so don't let that scare you .
