Ok, stupid question here but I have to ask it.... I have not put DEF into my new 2011 6.7 yet.... Is all DEF the same or is there something different/special about the Ford brand? Is there a "standard" for DEF?
I have used the 2.5 gallon package from Oreilly's twice now. No problems, comes with a spout and the cost is $12. Ford has it in 2.5 gallon packages with a little nicer spout for $21.

Check on the packaging whatever you pick up. I got four gallons from O'reilly's but no spout. Made me use a funnel but wasn't a big deal anyway. If the cool spout is available, go for that but don't let that be a deal killer. FYI -
No, it is named DEF Blue. The same packaging is available at Pilot. Flying J and Love's truck stops. I also have used the bulk dispenser at a Pilot Truck Center twice. DEF has an industry standard it must meet. It is 62% deionized water and 38% urea. Not like oil where many additives can be introduced. This is not new technology. DEF has been in use for several years, particularly in Europe. Find a retailer that has it in stock for about $12 and buy 2. Nothing to worry about. Remember that your new truck comes with a free DEF refill at your friendly Ford Dealer. Enjoy your new truck
I bought a 2.5 gallon jug from Canadian Tire and put in 2 gallons yesterday. It was the Air1 stuff made in Florida IIRC. The container came with a nice pouring spout but not with the "auto shutoff" the Ford one comes with. What would really help is if the container was marked to show how many gallons are in the container. I just scaled it off with a marker, but still...
BTW, see the label on the bottom left corner of the box? That's the certification label the truck's manual says to look out for.
Thanks for all the info guys. I bought 2 of the BlueDef 2.5 gallon containers today. My truck warning light said 500 miles left of DEF. I was able to put almost all of the both containers in. The 2nd container had about an inch left in the bottom of it. As soon as it attempted to overflow, I stopped. Probably could have gotten more in but didn't force it.
