I have a 2012 F250 6.7 diesel. Its my first diesel so im not sure what DEF brands are good. Im a diesel tech and my company sells CT2 DEF in 2 1/2 gallon jugs. I can get this pretty cheap i think because i work there. For me itll be about $11 for 2 1/2 gallons. Is this a good price and does anybody know about the CT2 brand. Thanks
While I have yet to have the experience, I have read elsewhere that DEF at the pump in most truck stops costs at or a little more than diesel fuel prices. You have to have your own container though and it does apparently have a shelf life. Should be kept cool but not allowed to freeze and away from sunlight (UV)... Again - all from what I have read here on the forums..
We use the CT2 but we have a 500 gallon plastic container that's in a metal frame, we put it on a custom pallet right next to the fuel tank. We pay 1.79 a gallon, but of course that's bulk pricing. we were just getting sick and tired of the mess the drivers were making with a 2.5 gallon container raised up on buckets and using a watering can to fill. Urea is nasty stuff when it spills constantly. I would think CT2 is cheap cause my boss is.
If I don't fill the DEF at my local Flying J (it's close by), I get it at Sam's or Wal-Mart. Have not had a problem with any of them. It is definitely cheaper at Flying J. Last I saw was $2.79 a gallon, compared to $10 - $12 for the 2.5 gallon jugs at the Waltons.

How do you do the two things in red if you in states that FREEZE or get HOT?
I believe DEF freezes around 17deg so as long as you store the extra above that temp your GTG. I know a guy that has a bulk tank of it for his big rig and he kept it in an enclosed trailer with a heat lamp above the tank and that kept it from freezing all winter, even with temps being below zero for most of the winter.

You don't store it is how
IIRC, the trucks have def tank heaters in them to stop freezing
For trucks stored or parked in freezing conditions for weeks on end are going to have a problem then...
That heater has to have some energy source and I am not about to run an extension cord out to the truck...
Good thing there's a warranty on all of it...
