My Mom has a 2002-ish explorer, a while back it started acting up. The door ajar light comes on along with the dome light and chime. I read that this might be caused by the sensors on the latch. But on her's the door locks also seem to act up at the same time, they will randomly lock and unlock themselves, sometimes just a few times, sometimes for the duration of the trip. She took it to a shop that specializes in electrical problems, and they charged her around $200 bucks to change the switches on the drivers door, but the problem continued a day or two after. I'm trying to save her some money to keep these idiots from changing parts till they get lucky. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right directon. I'm pretty handy with a set of tools, including a multi-meter if I can get this narrowed down a little, getting to cold to stand out there and trace wires on the whole truck. Thanks in advance.
I had a problem with my locks doing that on my 98 Mountaineer. But it was my aftermarket remote starter. After checking all the connections, and there is ALLOT of them, my problem went away. But like I said, mine was in the aftermarket remote car starter that was causing all the problems. But I didn't have any with the door ajar light....
