EBPV sensor cleaning question

I've searched but can't find an answer. After reading several how to clean threads, including Guzzle's, I can't seem to find if it's ok to clean out the sensor with brake cleaner. Both sensor and top of the tube are completely packed closed. Being careful not to go too deep, I started digging the soot from the sensor but I feel I need to squirt some good cleaner in there too. What's the verdict? Thanks.

I don't know if I would use brake cleaner. Maybe something like electrical contact cleaner or a MAF Sensor Cleaner would be safer?

If you need a new one the P/N is 4C3Z9J460A and Parts Guy Ed has them for $78.90

I just thought brake cleaner because it's also electrical cleaner but maybe it's too harsh for the diaphram inside.

What are my other options if I want to just delete the valve down the road, get a EBPV sensor fooler? It seems like if I don't care to use the EBPV, why would I need the sensor?
I heard Jody said it's best to leave the sensor on but would the fooler be the same as far as the ECU is concerned? How many of you just over ride the sensor? I'm not trying to be a rebel, just exploring my options.

All the fooler or resistor will do is not make it set a code. I have mine deleted with a plug at the manifold. I believe it's a 1/4npt plug. I have heard that Jody did say that. I have not had any problems after doing the delete but will probably get a new tube sometime.

This is from Guzzle's write up.
Once I felt the tube was opening up well, I blew it out with compressed air, sprayed more brake cleaner and continued until the tube was clean. I used a new sensor but if your sensor is clogged, use a small tool to try and dig out the sensor opening but not more than 1/4 inch into the sensor. Replace the sensor if it is packed with soot more than 1/4" down

Crazy huh? I want it to run right so I'll probably man up and buy a new sensor, found some on ebay for $70 shipped. I guess I'll have to soak the tube in napalm.

Dude!!

Shop some more on ebay. Use the Ford part #'s..also try motorcraft #'s..I got my sensor for $23.00 shipped..I used brake cleaner on my tube and it worked well, used a #14 solid wire to ream out the tube, took some time, but a lot cheaper in time than a new tube

Is this the sensor that will cause the fuel milage to drop?

I sure hope so, mine has taken a nose dive. From what I've read, it can have an effect a negative effect on mileage. For the record my mpg decrease was happening before it started getting cold out and is hopefully before the winter fuel blends started hitting the pumps.

Can anyone help me locate this sensor? I just bought a 2001 F-250 which seems to run great, but has very poor fuel mileage (11-12). I am looking for what might be causing the poor mileage and want to check this out.

Look right above the water pump left of center. You'll see about a one inch diameter water hose coming straight up then turning back towards the passenger side. The sensor is right next to that. You need a one inch deep socket to pull the sensor.

OK, my new sensor showed up today so I removed the tube and luckily it was only plugged the the sensor end. After that was cleaned out I tried cleaning the bracket fitting that the sensor plugs into but it was packed tighter than a clams ***. I needed to remove the bracket to really get at it.

Oh nice, the bracket flange is some sort of HPOP hole cover. Now I need to go get some RTV to re-install it. There's a pretty deep groove on the mating surface, looks to be for an Oring but mine just had RTV. Oh well, getting closer. I'm not too motivated when it's cold outside. Back out tomorrow.
