Smile New Batteries & Cables

Just installed a brand new pair of Interstate Mega Tron Plus batteries and all new battery cables. Truck sat out in the snowstorm overnight with no block heater and fired right up at 30 degrees this morning. I never heard my truck spin over so fast.

What brand are these battery cables? Also how much do they cost? Also your left battery is rotated 180 degrees off, the positive terminal should be closer to the radiator and the negative closer to the fender (at least this is how mine sit).

Believe it or not I went with cheap set and was very pleased with what I got. They are super starts from orielys, $80 for the positive and $14 a piece for the negative. My theory on this was better a set of $120 cables then no cables at all while I wait to buy the custom set for $280. I also replaced both battery hold downs as mine were missing and the shock from a battery bouncing around can do damage.

War,what size cables are those?
stock was 2/0 and sometime pre-late 80's 3/0 was stock going down to the starter.
anything under 2/0 and your going to heat things up like a Christmas tree.
you don't want to burn your truck down.

i payed over $300 for these tinned marine 3/0 +/- cables.there was a good reason for it.

They are 2/0 same as stock. I wanted to go with the bigger custom cables but it just wasn't in the cards with having to buy 2 new batteries and all the other small things I am doing to my truck.

It sure does turn fast now! Started in about 5 to 10 seconds this morning. I hope to improve on that. I have a new return line kit on the way to install next weekend and viton o rings for it already in my toolbox. I have a very slight air intrusion problem and it's getting fixed before it becomes a big problem

I looked up cables for my '91 and all I could find were 2/0 cables - which model years have the cables with the 3/0 starter section?

I looked up cables for 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1986 trucks with the 6.9 engine, and all I found was the straight 2/0 cables.

what are the lowest temps you see bubble?
larger than 2/0 isn't required.it's just nice to have a little less resistance when she's really cold out.
it's likely stepping up in more CCA's is more beneficial.though they kinda go well with each other too.

if you want to just buy 'em.these guys will make ya up the whole works:
Heavy Duty, Aftermarket, Custom Battery Cables for your Car, Truck or RV

hmm.their link on f250/350 no longer works.i'll be dang.well they used to make the whole cable kit up for ya right there, complete with option to add 3/0 down to the starter.
bummer.maybe you could contact 'em and see if they still do.
used to read about guys getting them from there all time on here.
