Battery's just need to be strong (alot!) CCA's. I got 2 durlast 1000 cca's in my truck. Each was like $105.. but lifetime warranty and it fires the truck off mighty fast.
Yep same here, 2 Autozone Duralast Golds and new glowplugs and she fires up almost instantly
Just a suggestion, if it hasn't been mentioned, I'm running 2 group 31 batteries. Got them at a local farm store for $80 each.
Something to look into...
EDIT: Correction: They're made by Exide and are 925CCA each. They really wheel it over though...
The Deka's at work are 1250 CA each, cost unknown.
Also those 31's aren't direct fit replacement. For me I don't want to change around things or lower the battery trays, change the terminal ends or anthing else. Exact fit is best for me.

IIRC with your bricknose lowering the trays is not necessary, but point taken, that's why I stick with 65s as well - if I want more cranking amps I can always add another battery somewhere...
Just ordered new cables and 2 group 65 Interstates for my truck. We are at -7 degrees right now... Yes the truck will start but only because of top notch gp & fuel system and a 1500w block heater.
Yea I could have saved some money at a chain store buying one of the mass produced Exides under the name of the day but I prefer to go to my local guy that I have known for 20 years and get Interstate batteries that have never left me stranded in 25 years of use and have saved me many times due to my neglect of maintenance or stupidity of leaving something on.
Your local scrap metal dealer will pay you for them... last I heard they were $5 per battery here.
my local scrap yard wont buy them any more...but he said he take them for free. but we do have a lead recycler in Wapak and they pay 6 dollers for a car or truck batt i think. i have a few i need to take down there.

i would have to agree with the interstates, i have ran them in everything i have and my dad has ran them for years and we have never had any problems out of them. i have 2 interstates in my 250 that are a few years old now and they still load tested close to 875 CCA.
