I come to my first of many planned upgrade/reconditioning of my 2006 F250 and the first cold snap killed my batteries. First of all they were mismatched brands, age etc. So I wanted to get the best for her and decided on optima yellow tops. I went to optima's site and they and every other parts house recommend a D35 battery for her. Why is this when the spec's call for a series 65 battery? Any input would be welcomed since I just laid out 430 bucks on this pair of D35's.
I got a pair of these about a year ago with a coupon from sears for around $350 for the pair. Research said they were the same as Odyssey batts, come with 9 year warranty... 4 year free replacement for any reason, and 5 year pro rate after that. 930 cca each.

Score?
That's what I run. I went with them because of the warranty and they had great reviews
Group sizing has mostly to do with dimensions. So long as the ampere hour, CCA, etc meets spec, there won't be any problem. Different types of battery construction can get the same capacity in a smaller or larger case. Deep cycle batts handle discharge better than standard start batteries and less sensitive to physical shock so better for off-roading too, etc.
