so I have a 78 f-150 2wd and have sometimes wished that it was 4wd. so my question is this is it possible to turn a 2wd truck into a 4wd? and also are the frames from the 2wd and 4wd different? or could i just get the radius arms from a 4wd and put on my 2wd? anyway thanks for your help.
unfortinately i do not have all your needed information but you need a transfer case, a front drive axle, new steering gear box, possibly a new steering shaft, and front driveshaft. Plus u-joints and seels, this is quite a job, i would have someone do it for me, or just get a 4wd chassis and put your body on it
There have been a lot of these conversions done and this question asked many times. I am not berating please don't misunderstand just lettin you know there are many different projects to look at and get all the info. Click the search button and search away.
okay thanks for the help guys. I thought that it would be possible but didn't know for sure. I will try to do a search on this subject. also would I be better off to just put a positrac in my rear axle and leave it at that. since I don't go off road much or in the mud. I was mainly wanting the 4wd for winter and snow packed roads.
Yes...it is 100% possible. However, it's my opinion, if you have to ask how to do it, especially if you ask if it's possible, it's probably a little more advanced than you can handle. I've been wrong before, and I don't mean to sound like a rear, just make sure to do tooooooooooooons of research, or just go buy a 4x4 and save yourself the time, money and headaches. It's also been my experience, unless you already have the spare parts lying around, it'll probably be more expensive than just buying the 4x4.
yeah that's the other thing that I wanted to know was the expense of doing all of this. also does any body know if a new process 208 transfer case would bolt up to my c6 trans?

Yeah it sure will...I have a 460/C6/208 combo sitting on a trailer. I think there were different adapeter lengths though.
