Hey, I have looked around and could find anyone talkin bout this so. But anyway. I have a 2000 excursion v10 2wd. I want some lift. The biggest i can find is a fabtech 6". But more is better. I have put my excursion on my car lift to get under it. I have noticed that it seems like they use the same frame on a 2wd as on a 4wd. I was wondering about gettin a 10' lift or so and get a front axle from a 4wd f-350/Excursion and steering etc. It would still be 2wd, the front axle just free turn. Just basicly fill in what the lift kit doesn't have to get the ten inchs of lift. I think it is possible. Could it be done or is it possible?
Nah...I you really need is an axle and the associated springs, hangers and steering components. It certainly doesn't cost Ford a lot of money to use the same frame for both front axle setups.
However, I wonder if it would be easier and cheaper to sell yours and buy a 4WD and do the lift on that one instead.
Lifting a 2WD is a big enough FAIL. Lifting a 2WD with a fake front solid axle that gets no power is a SUPER FAIL.
