starter cranks engine wont start

If anyone can help that would be great
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
F150 2000 4.6 4X4 117,000miles
<o></o>
Started the truck 3 times in the morning then drove 1.5 hours stopped for gas. Got back in the truck; tried to start it and starter cranks, engine doesn’t catch. Tried it multiple times same thing. Turned the key to power waited then tuned it to ignition and still the same problem. Got it towed to the shop, set the truck down and it started right up (turned it off and on a couple of times started up every time). Over the weekend the same issue came up multiple times. When it wouldn’t start I would have to turn it to power wait a little while then hit the ignition, it would start. First start in a while it would start up fine is would be the quick on/ off intervals (10 mins) it would have issues.
<o></o>
- spark plugs and wires are fine
- (when It wont start) I checked the Schrader valve on the fuel line it bubbles up fuel out of the lines
- When It wont start banged on the bottom of the fuel tank to see it the fuel pump was sticking, doesn’t help
- Doesn’t have a problem when started
- (when It wont start) starter cranks over solidly

take it the starter is turning the engine over fine? Or Is this a starter engagement problem?
it would then seem that your haveing a spark issue, or spark loss issue.
when this is not starting...can you (with some help) have one turn the engine over and give a whiff of starting fluid in the air intake. if it acts like it going to start or run briefly then it is a fuel delivery issue...if not then it confirms a spark loss.

in the mean time check any and all grounds make sure that they are all good

The next time it does it, try pressing the gas pedal slightly. If it starts, it means your IAC is bad.

my truck is doing the same thing every morning, I own a 4.6 98, now the only way it starts in the is if leave the key on the ON position for 10 seconds then crank it. the fuel pressure is around 40 psi

You need to check and see if it's fuel or fire. Try the starter fluid as instructed... Pull a plug and check for spark.
