How long since your last oil change?

I used the test procedure for the FICM from this site. I honestly don't know when the last time my truck was flashed. I do know that before I bought the truck back in July of this year the dealer claimed that they had just put a new fuel pump and FICM in the truck because they were both bad. I change my oil every 5000 miles and just did change Thursday still hard to start. Guess I will take it to the shop and have them flash it to see if that helps.

I have been going through the same thing at work with a guy for 2 weeks on his no start/rough running, Ford dealer took the truck and sent him home with new batteries. I told him they would have to cold start the truck in the morning. With the information I supplied, he has a new FICM now

If your glow plugs are working, you should have lower battery voltage for a while after it starts. Mine sits at about 12.2-12.4 while the glow plugs are on, then jumps to 13.8-14.2 after they shut off. Get your multi-meter out and check it. The computer reads oil temperature to decide how long to run them. If I forget I'm starting a diesel, and just crank it over, it will hardly start, even at 40F. Use the glow plugs, and it will start at -5F, although it's not happy about it.

New development my alternator isn't working properly just started today. Figures with my luck put new batteries in a couple of weeks ago and now my alternator is only putting out 12 volts. I only bring this up because I was wandering if this could have anything to do with my hard starting problem? I guess I will set an appointment with Schied Diesel and have them test my truck since I am still having a hard starting problem and see what they tell me after I get a new alternator put on.
