would anyone happen to know where i could find a brush guard or a heavier duty front bumper one that i can mount a few off road lights to? i would build one mysylf but i dont have the time or the equipment i love welding i just need to get a welder
I just hit a doe a few weeks ago with the dually, I was likely going about 40mph on impact. We guessed she weighed about 110-125 lbs, and the damage was pretty minimal. Broken plastic 'nut' on one headlight adjusting screw, and the centre rib of the grill was cracked.....took me 2 days to even notice it, as the crack only shows when you push in on the logo. Both items spring right back to position when pushed on, so I haven't bothered replacing either one.
That's with the stock front bumper, grill etc, btw. I hit her square along one side, smashed ribs, broke the pelvis and femur all in one shot. We were only able to save about 30 pounds of meat for the freezer, the rest went to the dogs to eat as it was all full of ruptured blood etc.
welll it would be deer and possibly elk while im going over the passes and also out in the hills or the mountains hunting or playin just in case i slide of the road in the snow or i drive like my crazy self and hit something and also its not just for the protection i want to put offroad lights on it so i can see better when i am in the hills bunny thumping and things
www.buckstop.biz/ (best bumpers I've ever seen for our generation, but not cheap at all)
Or look for "Warn Winch Bumpers". Warn tends not to carry our series but some suppliers still have them sitting around in warehouses.
That or craigslist. I got a warn enforcer bumper on CL, for like $150, had a dent in the chrome but straight frame, so no sweat off my back.
reasonable price is a tall order bud. finding them shouldnt be too hard. same bumper brackets as a 87-91 right? flat front so i bet one would work off one of them.
im not sure if the brackets are the same, i havent had a pre 86 but id assume they are. you know what they say about assuming though!
this guy makes good lookin bumpers but anything new is gonna be 800-2500 bucks Winch Bumper-TrailReady Bumpers and TR Beadlock Wheels
the bumpers im gonna make for my truck are gonna be based off that
Yeah when I do the body swap I'm gonna invest in a buckstop. And then get a little 1/2 ton and stick my enforcer bumper on it for off-roading.
The backstops are just quality built and it shows.
ya if i could i would buy one in a heart beat i built a bumper for my jeep that everyone called the elephant bumper cuz i can hit a elephant and not break it lol i just want a good one on my truck
