If you were in texas, I'd say order up a ranch hand or a tietjens, as they are the cream of the crop for deerslayer bumpers. But I'm willing to be shipping would kill the deal.
With your expectations, you're either going to have to bite the bullet and sink some serious coin into a bumper, or build your own, and hope for the best.
ya if i could i would buy one in a heart beat i built a bumper for my jeep that everyone called the elephant bumper cuz i can hit a elephant and not break it lol i just want a good one on my truck
I do not want to come out as an arrogant b*tch, but do you also have an elephant frame to go with that elephant bumper? I was in a jeep when the driver lost it and clipped a giant rock at speed, bumper held up good but frame behind it did not. This is something I was always afraid of, each of the two trucks I have owned has had a good-sized bumper on it that should fare well in a centered head-on collision, but if they take the hit near one of the corners then I think the jeep situation can repeat itself with the bumper bending the frame some.
Anywho, I do not know where you can find a strong and at the same time cheap bumper, my suggestion would be to either build one on your own (you obviously have the skills), or maybe keep searching through your local craigslist and ebay for a decent deal on something used but in good condition.
We got dogs runnin around out here as big as them cute little whitetails you're so worried aboutI hit a cow and calf moose with mine grille guard last month doing just over 60 and all it did was unhook the exhaust clamp goin up to the stacks, not the prettiest but it works
dude we got mulies lol the only whitetail we got are in the flats im more worried bout elk lol we went to challis idaho for a wrestling tourny two years ago and comin home we went through a herd of elk (bout 100) and we clipped one in a chool van while my coach was swerving into both lanes and him bein just so smart didnt slow down and was drivin with one hand and eatin jerky with the other
im lookin at building one like the second one that oreo posted the one with the three bars. im thinking bout connecting to the frame with 1/2" and using 1/4 or 1/8 for the plating. im thinking 1/2 to connect the outside of the bumper to the middle and co connect the plating. i have bout 20' of 2" pipe that i would use for the piping and i would like to make it even with the top of the hood instead of like in the picture where it is shorter and also maybe anglethe top a lil forward just in case i do hit somethin it would just slide under. also i would like to bring it out bout 10" so i can get up and stand on it to work under the hood so i dont need a step ladder after i get my lift on and also so i can set lights back a lil bit so there not right on the edge where they can break if i do hit something. how does this plan sound to yall?
it will be easy ill just ask lol i built a 12' flatbed trailer and the jeep bumper in his shop and a bunch of odds ands ends for him and the school maintanance crue so he likes me perty good
Are you plannin on putting a body lift on or straight susp? i have a 4" suspension and a 3" body lift on mine, now i have to move the whole freakin thing up so it don't look so goofy with the body lift
Sounds like a good plan to me man, personally i like to have mine close to the grille instead of out a ways, but could come in handy if your plannin on a winch, mine is made out of 3" and built just like one of the smittybuilt aftermarket ones and i really like it, i would stay away from the body lift's to though, it's a pain now trying to throw hay and haul wood when your truck bed is at your shirt pockets
