My truck has been down for a while (trans puked). So I've been looking around and I've found a '97's PSD's E4OD for a decent price, and it's low mileage rebuilt Ford unit. It comes with the TC too.
My question is, will it work in my '92? I'm almost sure I'd have to change over the shift solenoids (reuse my '92's in the '97's trans). How about the TC? would that bolt up?
your tc bolts up to it, if your asking about using its tc then not exactly. the 97 psd is a flange output shaft for the rear driveline. so you would either have to swap your slip yoke out for the flange, get his mid driveline or replace the output shaft on his tc.

yup you are correct from what i understand.you use your TC and solenoid pack ooh and some other wiring crap that wont plug in on the side of the trans.

Yes, thats it. Keep the older model MLPS, Solenoid body, and torque converter and it should be ok.
Powerstrokes have a 6 bolt flexplate while IDIs have a 4 bolt which is why you can't use the newer converter. Although considering the cost of another transmission rebuild, I would be tempted to get a new converter anyway.

IF this trans is a 4x4 unit (i emailed the guy, just waiting to here back from him), I'll look into getting a new TC for it.
