Took the tube off the turbo and revved the engine, you can see the turbo pickup speed the moment you rev it.

Mac they will all do that, it can't actually spool up and build boost until it has a load on it. It is impossible to do in nuetral.

That is weird dyoung as it usually has to have a load on it. I have never seen one build boost in nuetral but I probably never held one against the govenor either without a load on it.

Most rigs will start loosing boost after peak rpm is past.

We'll soon see what it can do, got all the exhaust leaks fixed today, (I think)

I just need to get it legal and the truck will be hitting the road.

And get a boost gauge.

just because the turbo speeds up or whistles dont mean its boosting,

I seem to remember Dave Sponaugle mentioning that he blew his valley pan while reving his truck in neutral in the driveway. Maybe there is something different about the 093 setup that makes it more able to spool without as much engine load. My 088 is wastegated so its not a fair comparison but it will actually show slight vacuum when reving mine.....although I've never done a neutral rev up to the governor in that manner. and likely never will lol

Yall are so afraid of your engines i give mine hell all the time anywho have you even seen how small the 093 is? i think thats why it spool so crazy, also my valley pan was re-used cause i ran out of money, i copper coated it about 4 layers thick, and so far it dont leak a drop

I just happen to like my truck, thats all. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go outside and give it a hug.

I agree about the small turbo size playing a - well - BIG...... roll.

If you want to see a small turbo, I could show you what the diesel ranger has. It's smaller than any garrett T3 you can find but spools like a banshee even before messing with the wastegate. Did that once along with a "slight" fuel screw mod and that little ranger screamed right up to when the blow off valve popped. Scared the crap out of us.

Yes we both have fords stupid version of the 093 ats wastegated turbo, it actually isnt too bad, cause i make that much boost and EGT with the stock housing, just a little bit better downpipe, but i hope to upgrade it good one day

I'm at a loss to explain how you are able to get that much boost while your engine is trying to breath through that stock downpipe.

I'm not sure if anyone has been able to do this before.

Its almost enough to make me start looking for an 093 kit.
