whatever the stock tire size is. I am not sure exactly. It needs to be able and haul a load in the bed, but probably not much towing. At least not very often.
With a 3 speed, you don't have a lot of options. Your 3rd gear is 1:1 os for decent highway RPMs you want a 3.08 which give you about 2400 RPM @ 65 or even a 2.73 which drop it to about 2150.
Since your 1st gear isn't very deep, neither of these gears have any acceleration, performance or hauling capability. A set of 3.55s or 3.73s would be much better for a working truck but you'd end up pulling 2750-3000 RPM @ 65 depending on tires.
If you go with something in the middle like 3.27s or 3.31s you'll still be turning about 2550 @ 65

You can see my truck specs in my profile, and more in my sig link. I'm going back to 3.08s because I do have a granny gear AND a transfer case with low range (so I don't have a torque problem), but I don't have OD, so the 3.55s I'm running temporarily just won't get me up to the speed I like. I can't even peg the speedometer any more.
thanks for the advice. I will probably just keep things the way they are and keep the work load down on it. It will mostly be used just for commuting anyway, and I could use the lower rpms for better fuel mileage with the way gas prices are going up where I live. I have put some decent loads on it and it has done alright, not the greatest, but it has gotten the job done and that is all I need for right now.
