Does anybody have this system in their truck? Looking to order in the next few days, but nobody has this system to try out at the dealer. The only one im intrested in is the tool link. My truck can sit at the job site for 3 minutes, and by the time I leave, somebody has already took my sledge, level, or transit. Our expedition has the system like in the Lariat, and it is GREAT, but I'm not sure about the worksoutions package. Should I just get what i know works, and pay attention to my stuff? thanks
I looked at both. The workforce solution runs off of a Windows CE platform. It does not have full Windows capabilities but does allow you to look at emails and spreadsheets. The problem is the screen size. You will also need to subscribe to the wireless provider to get your emails. There is also a package that allows you to track your fleet (provided you have one).
I came close to getting the DeWalt package not for the tracking my tools but rather my hunting equipment. Can't tell you the number of years that I forgot something after I left for a hunting trip. If it ain't the range finder, then it's the binoculars. I opted for the Nav package but I can't tell you the number of times I thought I should have gotten it.
Ford does have a demonstration CD for it. Most dealers I believe have it. Another factor that influenced my decision was at one time (still may be true) you could not get the Tool Link with a Lariat package. It stopped at the XLT line.
It's not the windows I'm looking for, I have a laptop with me for that. It's more about tracking the stuff in the truck. Can you get the tool link included on the ford navigation? Or does it have to be the other system? My dealer is in the dark about it.
