looked at a 2005 expedition limited yesterday. it had the in dash navigation system. i tried the system but couldnt get it to work. i put in the cd for my part of the country and it showed the right towns and roads. when i would hit HERE it would say unavailable. that button should show the current location of the vehicle. im just wondering if there is something that has to be done to activate the system. i just dont understand why else the truck wouldnt show its current location. thanks for your help. i know that i can always find the answers to my questions at this site.
There is nothing to activate on the navigation. You just have to insert a disc and let the system update itself, this may take a few minutes the first time a disc is installed. As far as using the "HERE" button, the vehicle needs to be near a recognizable road. If it's sitting back in the dealers lot it may not recognize a physical address. If your parked in someones driveway just off the street, I've never had a problem with it, other than it gives you an address of where it thinks you are which may not match up to the actual address.
Sometimes you need to drive up to 50 miles in order for the navigation system to plenty identified where you are. Try to give him an adress where you like to go and start to drive. Hopefully the system starts to work very soon.
thanks for the replys. maybe we just didnt have enough time to wait and see if it would start working. ill look into it some more today and see what i can find out. thanks for your time
i have a 2005 limited, bought it two months ago, didn't see the wheels until i pick it up. the first time i wash it i discovered that the chrome part was just a plastic cover over the alm wheels. i love the truck just wonder why they put the **** wheel covers on it. so what do you think about the wheels.
