I bought a pair of cab mounts for my 66 f100 from lmc they look way different than the factory mounts. has anyone used these before they look like they will require some modification to fit properly.
Hey Troy, Welcome to FTE, do yourself a favor and send them back if they don't look right. anyways they are made in china.... you can junk yard what you need from any 65-79 f100-250 truck.
I would send them back if they arent right. Ive bought some rubber products from LMC... the QC out of the Philippines just isnt up to par lol. Ive ordered rubber stuff from dennis carpenter, zero problems, high quality stuff.
I just finished installing new front cab supports and floor pans on my '66 Ford F100. I used replacement parts from Dennis Carpenter and am very pleased with them. Last timed I checked, everone else makes the stamped cab supports that are designed to just wrap around the old cab supports. Structurally, they are nowhere close to the factory replacements. The DC parts are not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
I also would recommend Carolinia Classics; Rick makes a great set same quality as D/C; but I beleive price is better. Also if your pulling pans from salvage truck; only 65-72 are exact fit. pan change for 73-79 styles.
I used the cab mounts from LMC. They are designed to fit over the old ones and mine matched up great. I cut my old mounts off for the most part. I couldn't totally remove without cutting into the pan. I think the mounts cover several years, so and are really long. I cut my down to fit better before welding. I had to do some hammering to get it all down good.
I just don't enjoy welding thin metal , but got the job done!
