Dad's truck has developed a nasty power steering leak pretty much over night. Two days ago it was dry as a chip, but today it's leaking pretty steady. The leak seems to be coming from the seal around the output shaft where the pitman arm goes on. We tried some Lucas stop leak but it's getting worse and just spits it out on the ground. The truck is a 2000 F150 4.6L 2wd. I work at a parts store and can't seem to find anything for a replacement seal, so it almost looks as though we're going to have to order a steering gear. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
Right on, I'll maybe call them and get a number. See if I can cross reference it at work haha. Sure beats the hell out of $200 for a reman steering gear. Thanks!
We finally got a chance to get it in the shop and tear it apart. We got the pitman arm off, but there doesn't look like there's any snap ring there. I looked all over for it but there's no ears on it for the pliers to clip in or anything. I just hope they didn't rust off? Help please. Thanks!
