I have an 01 F350 crewcab, and the kids are always freezing in the back while we roast in the front. Just looking for some tips on a good solution for heat in the back, under seat or something, thanks
I wish I had an answer. One of my F150's is a 2001 and has a vent under the drivers seat that blows back towards the rear seats. Same on the passenger side. It is about 6 inches long and about 1/2 inch tall. I don't know if the heavier trucks had that feature. I know it came loose and I had to reattach behind the dash, since it was a plastic to plastic situation, I put it together and then used very short self tapping screws to set it so it would not viberate back loose.
I am sure someone else will have a better answer or solution.
Thanks, I was hoping for easy, but I think the best option I have found is the Maradyne 4000 which is just a separate heater that you plumb into your cooling system. It is about $200. I think I can mount it behind the back seat.
i too was surprised by the lack of rear cab heat when i came out of an 01 supercrew with the rear ducting...seems silly not to make that standard for all 4 door trucks.
Now that are weather here is finally cooling down I noticed the same problem the other day on a trip out of town. My wife and mom were cold in the back seat while my dad and myself were roasting in the front seat.
what about a 12V plug in car heater & just set it in the back on the floor, we call them a preheater up north here, it just plugs into a cigar lighter socket, Gigger
We had the opposite problem, the ac took forever to cool the back of the truck during high temps 100+. I would use the front center vents but close down the ones near the doors. This would push more air between the seats toward the back of the truck. Then we mounted a small 12volt fan on the center consul with velcro, this gave the people in the back some control of the direction and volume of air flow. If I needed to open the center consul the fan could be easily removed. This should help with warming up the truck and the fan was less then $20.
