Well I ordered hedman headers for the V10 today. I ordered the painted ones. I am looking at painting them with tech line coatings satin black header paint. From talking to the guys there they said it holds up to corrosion and rust when applied correctly. So we shall see. I'll post pics etc once I get it completed. It'll probably be awhile as I have to find time in my 60 hour work weeks.
When you get the headers inspect them carefully, especially around the welded part where the pipes join the flange. My son bought hedman headers for his 1997 F150 4.6L. When he got the headers he was so happy he forgot to inspect them. He and a friend installed them. Immediately there was an exhaust leak. Couldn't find it so we took it to several muffler shops before we found one that would tackle the job. They took the headers off and found where several of the welded areas had small holes where the weld did not cover. Ended up sending the headers back.
I have them and would recommend Summit locking bolts for the manifold. none have come loose in 5k miles. The collector bolts are another story. I tighten them monthly and have them double nutted now as the originals worked so loose they fell off. Emailed company but no real help on reason or fix. When they loosen the truck gets louder on start up then quiets down when warmed up. Eventially is stays slightly louder, then i tighten it up and we start all over again. The bolts don't loosen, the collector is a ball and socket with three bolts. I think it shifts and slides until a leak pops up.
