It's NOT a "holding tank" - nor an "Overflow" bottle/tank. It's a "DEGAS bottle". Proper level is at the BOTTOM of the lower line on the bottle.

Are you running a tuner? Do you use any kind of additive with your fuel? Do you run the Ford recommended oil and fuel filters or just the cheapest you can find? When was your last oil change and fuel filter changes?

Tell us HOW you drive the truck....do you tow with it? If so what's the weight you tow.

Do you have gauges so you can tell your EGT, oil temp and coolant temp or do you rely on the stock gauges?

Have you ever cleaned your EGR valve?

Answer the above and we will be able to make a more informed answer...thanks and welcome to FTE!

I will add to Bud's list. The min line on the bottle is the new max level so keep it about a quarter inch below the min level.

yes I have a tuner I ran it a month or two and the truck was doing ok. I have took it out and returned back to stock settings. I have used loucs additive about once a month.
I have ran the Ford recommended oil and fuel filters from day 1 (one owner vehicle) have changed oil every 5,000 miles and fuel filter every 10,000 miles.I take care of the truck and drive within the posted speed.(Can't say I never went over posted speed) Have never put the truck in any mud (paid to much to abuse). Have a 6' by 12' box we use to race motorcross with don't know the weight but have two bikes (once a week). I rely on the stock gauges. I did replace the EGR valve around March of this year.

Sounds well taken care of!

Do you see any white residue around the degas bottle or in the engine well around the degas bottle cap, or are you just losing wateer level?

no white residue. but I do have a rusty brown residue around the degas bottle. the water that I'm losing is beining blown out the degas bottle cap and it will blow about 1 gal. a day. that may be a ride to town and back (around 75 miles total).
